Last Thursday, a delegation of Year 5 and Year 6 students from both campuses of our school had an outstanding participation in the Spelling Bee competition, organised by Saint Dominic School in Viña del Mar. In a competition marked by skill and mastery of the English language, our students stood out not only for their academic performance but also for the human values they demonstrated throughout the event.
The star of the day was Camila Vara from Year 5D, who claimed First Place in her category, showcasing excellent preparation and confidence in every word she spelled. Belén Palominos from Year 5B earned a well-deserved Second Place, securing her position among the best in her level. Elisa Vera from Year 5C completed the podium with Third Place, confirming the high level of our students.
Additionally, special mention goes to Hernán Pizarro, also from Year 5. Hernán not only excelled in the competition but also stood out for his empathy and camaraderie. During the event, he comforted fellow contestants from other schools who did not advance, embodying the values of solidarity and mutual support that our school strives to instil in its students.
In the Year 6 category, although we did not win any awards, our students were notable for their effort and dedication, competing for the top spots until the final round. Their participation was a reflection of the commitment and perseverance that characterise our students.
We thank Saint Dominic School for the invitation to this enriching event and congratulate all our participants for their excellent performance. We extend our best wishes to the Year 7 and Year 8 students who will represent our school in the same competition this Thursday. We are confident that they will continue to uphold the name of our institution!
